STAR PREVIEW Striking oil at Clonmel

first_img[dropcap]J[/dropcap]umps racing cranks up another gear this afternoon with two Graded races on the card including the Clonmel Oil Chase (Grade 2) at 2.25.Favourites have a great recent record in this race and last season’s Cheltenham and Punchestown Gold Cup’s third Road To Riches is set go off at the top of the market. The shorter trip might be a little concern for him today but I see no reason why his road to Cheltenham shouldn’t start with a win here. The trip will suit the Willie Mullins trained Felix Yonger much better and he might be a tough nut to crack. He’s bidding for a fifth consecutive win but still puts in the odd alarming jumping error and that could find him out against the likes of Road To Riches. On official ratings Mallowney isn’t too far behind. He needed the race last season after a break but went on to win twice.  However, he has plenty to find with Felix Yonger on Punchestown Champion Chase form where he proved 17 lengths inferior. The other Giggingstown pair Bright New Dawm and First Lieutenant are a long way short of their best form. The other Graded race on the card is the T.A. Morris Memorial Mares Chase at 2.55 which very much looks at the mercy of the Willie Mullins trained Vroum Vroum Mag who bids for her sixth win in a row.RECOMMENDED BETS (scale of 1-50 points)BACK ROAD TO RICHES for 25 points at SP with Star SportsRETURN SINCE START OF WORLD CUP: PROFIT 120.62 POINTSWhat’s your view?
