Honduras: Medical Teams Work Hand in Hand

first_img Honduran surgeons and their U.S. counterparts have worked side by side for years bringing medical assistance to the people of Comayagua, Honduras. In October 2011, Joint Task Force-Bravo Medical Element and Honduran surgeons completed highly needed surgeries in local hospitals. The six-person Joint Mobile Surgical Team worked together three times a week, averaging between two to five surgeries a day. “We’ve being doing this for 18 years and I’ve been on hundreds of these trips,” said Dr. Wilmer Amador, Joint Task Force-Bravo medical liaison officer. “It’s a win-win for everybody.” The JTF-Bravo Medical Element also supports military missions and humanitarian assistance and provides lifesaving surgical capability at Soto Cano Air Base. first_imgGlenn Crocker, a retired Lawrenceburg teacher and coach, was recently inducted into the Indiana High School Wrestling Hall of Fame.  Glenn has had 30+ years as a wrestling official.  The 1964 Harrison, Ohio, high school graduate spent most of his career at Lawrenceburg High School.In his 30+ years as a referee, he refereed 6 individual state meets and 2 team state meets.  Glenn attended Cumberland College where he played 4 years of varsity tennis.During his 43 years as an educator which ended with his retirement in 2012, he was a Lawrenceburg football coach for 30 years.  As a head coach, he recorded a 125-66 record with the Tigers.  The 125 wins are the most by any football coach at Lawrenceburg.  He also spent 6 years as a wrestling coach, 5 years as a tennis coach, and 4 years as the girls basketball coach.  Congratulations, Glenn!last_img read more

Board finds ‘express bias’ in firing of Iowa OSHA inspector

first_imgDES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Public Employment Relations Board has overturned the firing of a workplace safety inspector, finding that he unfairly faced retribution after reporting a hostile work environment inside the agency. The board found that managers at the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration acted with “express bias” when they opened a disciplinary investigation into Travis Stein for missing a meeting in November 2018. The decision found that the agency had never before punished a worker for missing a meeting and that the investigation of Stein was unfair and incomplete. Stein says the ruling backs his claim that his January 2019 firing was motivated by retaliation and built on false statements.last_img read more
