The addition of the Marshall Thundering Herd to Notre Dame’s schedule gives the team nine confirmed opponents for 2022. The Thundering Herd went on to finish with the No. 23 ranking – the school’s highest since 1999. The latest addition to Fighting Irish schedule involves a Group of Five powerhouse.On Monday morning, Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick took to Twitter and announced that the Thundering Herd would be heading to South Bend in 2022. Per the report, the two teams will only play against each other the one time.Per the announcement, the game will take place on September 10, 2022. The week before, the Fighting Irish travel to Ohio Stadium for a showdown with the Buckeyes.The two sides have never played against each other.
